Back in the sunshine of July, Year 13 held their traditional fancy dress extravaganza (above left) on their last day in school.  The costumes seem to get more creative every year.  Students and staff also celebrated at the Year 13 Leaver’ Ball (above right) and Year 11 end of year event (below), both held in the lovely surroundings of Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel.

In August, we congratulated students and their families on a set of GCSE results which once again broke school records, placing the school among the top 5 in the country.  Our A Level students also gained the highest percentage of A* grades in the history of the school, with 58% of grades at A or A*.

Creative Arts at CCHSG

The strength of the Creative Arts at CCHSG has always been evident, with several concerts, two whole-school productions and an Art exhibition taking place, every year.  During the summer term, we were treated to “open air” Shakespeare, performed by the whole of Year 7.  This quickly became “indoor” Shakespeare, due to the weather, but was hugely successful nonetheless.  The whole school production in July was “The Very Shaky Web Fest”, a Shakespeare-inspired twist on Andrew Lloyd Webber music, written by Year 12 student, Lucy Molnar.   There was also ”Music on the Green”, a series of concerts performed in the school grounds at lunchtime and “Spring Back to the 80s”, a 1980s take on music from the 1780s, 1880s and 1980s.

We are very grateful to Mr Ulph and Mrs Cudmore-Rice for all their work in directing drama and musical productions.  Not to be outdone, the Art Department also exhibited the excellent work of GCSE and A Level Art Students.
