This September, Sixth Form students at CCHS will have stunning new facilities to support their studies. Costing £1.25 million and taking over 11 months to build, the high quality professional environment incorporates a lecture theatre, a large computer suite, teaching rooms and a large common room with kitchen. Students now also have a separate entrance atrium, giving the Sixth Form Centre a distinctive identity. The new Sixth Form Block and classrooms were opened in late July by Mr Laurence Jones, Chair of Governors. He outlined how Mr Allan Blundell, previous Chair of Governors and Mrs Gillian Marshall, Headteacher, had a vision almost a decade ago for a bespoke teaching block for the Sixth Form. We are delighted that students can now benefit from the new provision.

CCHS is delighted that, despite the challenges the reformed GCSE curriculum and the move to linear A level poses nationally for all schools, our students have again achieved outstanding results which, for both A level and GCSE are the best in the history of the school.
At GCSE 90% of grades were at the new GCSE grade 9/8/7 (or A/A* equivalent) and 100% of students gained the equivalent of 5 grade 9-5 including English and Mathematics. 12 students achieved 9 grade 9/A* grades. These results maintain the place of CCHS in the top 1% of state schools nationally.
Our Sixth Formers should also be very proud of their achievements with 89% of all A level grades at A*, A or B. We thank al l our Sixth Form students for the tremendous contribution that they have made during their time at CCHS. Each year many CCHS students secure places on highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry and enter the UK’s top ranked universities. We also see students entering Music Conservatoire, Art Foundation Courses and training as nurses or teachers. 95% of students progressed on to Higher Education and over 60% gained places at Russell Group Universities.
CCHS thank students, staff, governors and parents for their ongoing work and support. We are thrilled for all of our students and delighted at the opportunities that these exam results make available for them.
CCHS has been developing its D of E programme over a number of years and is now accredited to offer Bronze, Silver and Gold. The D of E offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive and enjoyable activities in their free time. Each year CCHS has over 150 participants across the three Award levels.
At the end of May the first Gold Award recipients under the school’s Direct Licence went to Buckingham Palace to receive their awards. They were presented to Princess Eugenie and received their certificates from Justine Lucas, England Women’s Rugby Player.
