Reunion - 8 April, 2017, Year of 1961

Christine Sheppard (now Furniss) and Bronwen May (now Wolton) (pictured right) contacted the Old Girls’ Association to obtain information and names of students who joined the school in 1961. This was the result of a chance meeting with an old school friend. Liz White gave them the details of Jo Edwards, the Secretary of the Old Girls’ Association, who provided Bronwen with details of Old Girls from school magazines and also used her own research. 63 people were contacted and 34, including Jo Edwards herself, attended an afternoon tea on 8 April at Grey Friars hotel, the former site of the school.
The afternoon provided an opportunity for former students to discuss their lives and experiences in an informal manner. Memorabilia, including a red beret, school tie, scarf and many personal and school photos were displayed and an enjoyable time was had by all. Tribute was also made with a card and flowers to those who were unable to attend or who are now deceased. The result was that, after having started at the school 56 years ago, students were able to renew old friendships and reflect on them after all this time. Some attendees asked for another reunion in 2020 when we would all be 70. A great success! Our thanks go to the Old Girls’ Association and the school itself as well as Grey Friars hotel.
