Events

Following the Autumn Newsletter we completed our events programme for 2017, with lunch at the Siege House, in Colchester. Nearly 30 people attended and we will bear this venue in mind for future occasions.
​
I apologise for the delay in not organising a get-together earlier in the year, but several of the Committee have been unwell (including me) but the programme below, we hope, will compensate.

Morning Coffee
​
The St Botolph’s Hotel Restaurant (near the Town Railway Station, on the St Botolph’s roundabout) has recently been completely renovated and is under new management. Members are invited to meet for coffee (with cake, approx. £4) at 11 am on Tuesday, 8th May. Everyone to pay for their own coffee – but perhaps make it easier for the staff and pay per table. There is no need to send a reply slip, but if you want to telephone or email me to say you intend to come, please do so – otherwise just turn up. By the time of our meeting the Restaurant should have their new lunchtime ‘menu of the day’ available, if you want to have lunch later.
Afternoon Tea

This has been booked at Roman Circus House, for Friday, 25th May, 2.15 to 4.15 pm, £10.50. The House is accessed through the gates to the Butt Road Public Car Park (opposite Beaconsfield Ave). Follow the signposts to the House where there is parking, including parking for the disabled. If their car park is full, return the same way to the public car park. There is access on foot only off the North Circular Road. Roman Circus House can only cater for 24 people for tea, so this will be a “first come first served” event. Please send reply forms as usual but note that I will only telephone you if your form is received after we have reached the maximum number.
Chinese Lunch

This will be at the Bamboo House, in Military Road, on Wednesday, 6th June - 12.30, for 12.45pm, £12.00. (Note - this is for a starter, main course and coffee – please pay for desserts and/or other drinks separately).
AGM
​
This will be held at the School, on Saturday, 28th July, at 10.45, for 11am. Coffee will be available, on arrival (£2). If you wish to stay for lunch after the AGM the cost will be £8.50 (which includes the pre-meeting and after lunch coffee).
Garden Party
​
This will be held at Liz White's garden, at 187, Lexden Road, on Thursday, 23rd August, from 2.30 to 5pm. £5 per person (or pay, on the day) - but please telephone/email to let me know if you intend to come.

Coffee Morning
​
We will return to the Rose Room, at Greyfriars, on Tuesday, 11th September, 10am to 12.30 pm, £6, per person. If you wish to have lunch in the Restaurant afterwards, please make sure you book, personally, in advance, or, alternatively, Greyfriars would welcome you to stay on for a bar meal, after our Coffee Morning.

Lunch
​
Finally, lunch has been booked, at the Green Room, on North Hill, for Monday, 29th October, at 12.30, for 12.45pm. Price and menuare to be confirmed late,r but it will probably be in the region of £15, for two courses and coffee. Please note that there is no wheelchair access to this venue and there are several small flights of stairs to the Barn Room, where we will be eating. Please send the reply slip if you are interested and I will send the menu and payment form nearer the date.

Reply slips are at the end of the Newsletter, or may be downloaded from the website. Please note the cut off dates for each event. If it is more convenient you can send several replies with one cheque.
