Events
We have had two events so far this year. The Coffee Morning in February encountered a problem, just like 2018. But, instead of the reason being a low attendance, like last year, it was even more frustrating, because the Hotel and Restaurant we had intended to use, closed down rather abruptly! However, the Colchester Officers’ Club came to our rescue and 14 members enjoyed a chat over coffee and cake.
The Colne Bistro Lunch on 22nd March was very successful. I had booked 20 places and eventually 36 members attended. Apologies to some of those who attended because I hadn’t anticipated such a response and so hadn’t asked members about their preferred seating plan. … Next time ….
I must offer another apology in respect of the date for replies for Chinese Lunch to be held at the Bamboo House Restaurant. This was listed in my last events newsletter, and I asked for early replies. However, as the date of the lunch is not until THURSDAY 16th MAY it will be acceptable if I receive replies by 10th May. Please arrive at 12.30 for 12.45pm. Cost £14. (Note – this is for a starter, main course and coffee – please pay for desserts and/or other drinks separately.)
The AGM will be held at the School on SATURDAY 13TH JULY. Coffee will be available on arrival. If you wish to stay for lunch after the AGM, the cost will be £8.50, which includes the pre-meeting and after lunch coffee. (Pre-meeting coffee only - £2.)
WEDNESDAY 21ST AUGUST, is the date for our Garden Party held at Liz White’s home at 187 Lexden Road. 2.30 pm to 5 pm. Cost £5.
On MONDAY 23rd September, we have booked another Coffee Morning at Grey Friars. The cost is £6 and will include coffee and two small pastries/cakes. This will be held from 10 am to 12 noon and members can stay for lunch afterwards if they wish.

The Committee hopes to see many of our members at the above events; guests are welcome at the Chinese Lunch, the Garden Party and the Coffee Morning. Reply slips are at the end of the Newsletter, or may be downloaded from the website. Please note the cut off dates for each event. If it is more convenient you can send several replies with one cheque. Before you return the reply slip, please make a note of the dates and times of each event; if there are any queries about the locations, parking, etc. please telephone or email me - 01206 579688 or jeanjons@btinternet.com.
