On 30th January, the CCHSG History Ambassadors, with Mrs Sanderson, and Ms Stubbs, were delighted to welcome a group of alumnae who had attended CCHSG during the 1940s, 50s and 60s.  Students spent time chatting with their guests and recording their memories of school life, including uniform, lunches, extracurricular activities, sport and social events.  They were also eager to explore how academic learning and examinations have changed over the decades.  Several of the alumnae had been students at CCHSG during the war and immediate post-war years, and they offered fascinating insights into everyday life under rationing and other restrictions.

The History Ambassadors are now collating the recordings and preparing a summary of their findings, which will be shared on our website, as a corridor display in school, and in Year Group assemblies during the summer term.  We are very grateful to Mrs Sanderson, who said:  “Meeting ex-students from CCHSG was a fascinating experience for our Year 8 and Year 10 History Ambassadors to engage with.  They thoroughly enjoyed listening to their stories and learning about their experiences, which gave a real insight into what life was life at CCHSG from the 1940s onwards.  They are very much looking forward to sharing this with the wider school community later in the year.”
