The School has submitted the proposals to Colchester Council outlining the construction of a single three-storey classroom block and canopy.  Plans detail the new block would be constructed of “brickwork and cedar panelling, aluminium windows and with a flat roof”.  A proposed floor plan shows the site would hold three classrooms, a store and plant room, with space also set out for an office, lobby, toilets and cleaners’ cupboard.

Highest Admission Rates to Oxbridge - December 2023

 

National data collected by the Daily Telegraph reveals that both Colchester Royal Grammar School and Colchester County High School for Girls had two of the highest proportions of pupils continuing their studies at Oxford or Cambridge.  Interestingly, CCHS and CRGS leavers in 2020 had the same percentages, ie, 16 per cent going to Oxbridge, with 66 per cent enrolling at other Russell Group universities, eg, Bristol, 

 

Birmingham, Liverpool, York, several London colleges, etc.  Nationally only 1% of students enrol at Oxbridge and 18% at the Russell Group Universities.  The data also revealed that 94% of CCHS students started their university careers within two years of leaving school and CRGS had 96%.
