The Catherine Bullen Foundation was set up 21 years ago by the parents of a medical student at Bristol University who died in August 2002 in Namibia from gastroenteritis. Linda and Roger Bullen were determined not to forget Catherine, an old girl of CCHS, and set up the foundation in her memory to improve the quality of life of the children in Namibia.
Over the years they have helped the community by building medical and educational facilities and continue their good work. Latterly they have provided desks and chairs at large school to replace bricks and shared desks and have also funded school uniforms for 150 children at another school.
They have now enlisted the help of girls at St Mary’s Senior School in Colchester who also funded school uniforms at Good Hope Primary School and are now funding socks and shoes for the children. The two schools have become quite close with the help of social media.
